American to Czechia Visa Free (90 days)

U.S. passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date. The passport must be biometric (containing an electronic chip). Ensure you have a valid travel document before booking your trip.

Your passport must have at least 2 blank pages available for entry/exit stamps.

Czech Immigration Authorities may require travelers to demonstrate proof of sufficient finances to cover the cost of your stay. Be prepared to show bank statements or other financial documentation if requested upon arrival.

You must carry proof of a valid travel medical insurance policy that covers all costs for hospitalization and medical treatment while in the Czech Republic. This is mandatory and should be presented if requested by authorities.

As of late 2026, you will need European Travel Information and Authorization (ETIAS) authorization for visa-free short-stay travel to the Czech Republic. This requirement will become mandatory before your departure. The ETIAS is applied for online, with most decisions made within minutes but potentially taking up to 96 hours. Once approved, it is valid for three years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.

As of October 2025, the Entry/Exit System (EES) requires biometric entry and exit checks for non-EU visitors including U.S. citizens. This involves providing fingerprints and a photograph upon arrival at the border.

While not formally required, you may be asked to provide information about your travel plans, including your accommodation details and itinerary, to verify that your stay is for tourism purposes and not profitable work.

While not mandatory, having accommodation booking confirmation is helpful to demonstrate your travel plans and may be requested by immigration officials.
