American to China Visa Required

The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the planned date of entry into China and have at least two blank visa pages available.

Fill out the official Chinese visa application form with a handwritten signature. This form is available for download from the Chinese embassy or consulate website.

A recent, color passport-sized photograph must be provided, meeting the Chinese visa photo requirements.

Foreigners residing in the US must provide a photocopy of legal residence status documents such as green card, visa, I-20, or I-94.

A visa application statement with a handwritten signature is required, confirming the truthfulness of provided information.

Though not mandatory, travel insurance covering medical expenses in China is highly recommended for tourists.

Round-trip flight reservations or travel itinerary may be requested on a case-by-case basis but generally not required since January 1, 2024.

Proof of accommodation such as hotel booking confirmation may be requested but is generally no longer required.
