Nigerian to Canada Visa Required

Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the date you plan to leave Canada. Submit a clear scan of the biometric information page.

Fill the Canadian visitor visa (IMM 5257) form online and print the confirmation page. All information provided must be accurate and match your documents.

Recent color passport-size photo (specifications: 35mm x 45mm, white background, neutral expression) taken within 6 months of the application date.

Recent bank statements from the last 4–6 months as proof of funds. Should demonstrate sufficient balance to cover your stay, typically at least $2,500 USD.

Copy of a round-trip reservation or confirmed flight itinerary showing entry to and exit from Canada.

Proof of accommodation: hotel booking, or if staying with a host, a letter from the Canadian resident including host's contact information and address.

Valid travel medical insurance for entire stay in Canada, covering at least $30,000 USD in medical expenses including hospitalization.

A clear and concise statement describing your reason for visiting Canada (e.g., tourism, vacation, visiting family).

Provide documents that demonstrate you will return to Nigeria, such as property documents, family records, employment evidence, or academic enrollment.

After submitting your application, you must attend a visa application center (VAC) to provide fingerprints and a digital photo for biometrics.

A detailed letter explaining the purpose of your visit, your itinerary, and your intent to return to Nigeria. Strongly recommended though not always mandatory.

A letter from your employer or business evidence, showing position, salary, period of leave, and expected return to work. Required for employed or self-employed applicants.

If visiting friends/family, a signed letter from your Canadian host with address, invitation details, and a copy of their Canadian status (passport/PR card).
