British to Italy Visa Free (90 days)

Passport must have been issued within the last 10 years and be valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned date of exit from the Schengen Area. Expiry date does not need to be within 10 years of issue but the date of issue must be less than 10 years from arrival.

Proof of onward or return flight tickets is required to demonstrate the intention to leave Italy within the 90-day visa-free period.

Proof of accommodation bookings or invitation letter to stay with family/friends during your trip is required.

Clearly state the purpose of your visit as tourism; this can be included in a cover letter or travel itinerary.

Fingerprint scans and facial photographs are taken upon entry as part of standard Schengen border security checks.

From mid-2025, UK nationals must obtain ETIAS authorization online before traveling, which serves as a travel waiver for stays up to 90 days in any 180-day period in the Schengen Area including Italy.

Though not mandatory for visa-exempt short stays, travel insurance covering medical expenses and repatriation is strongly recommended.
