Required Documents & Information

• Valid passport with 6+ months validity

  You must provide a valid passport that will not expire for at least 6 months from your date of application.

• Proof of at least 2 years of self-employment or world-class participation in cultural or athletic activities

  Submit evidence of at least 2 one-year periods of relevant experience within 5 years preceding your application (either self-employed in cultural/athletic activities or participation at a world-class level). More years earn more points.

• Comprehensive business plan

  Provide a detailed business plan outlining your intent and capability to be self-employed in Canada and contribute to its economy.

• Proof of funds: $13,000 USD

  Show that you have sufficient funds to support yourself and any dependents. Amount varies by family size; reference value is for a single applicant.

• IELTS score of 5.0 or equivalent

  Demonstrate proficiency in English or French by providing valid language test results equivalent to at least IELTS 5.0 (CLB 5) in all four skills.

• Medical examination by approved physician

  You and all accompanying family members must undergo a medical exam by a Canadian-approved physician.

• Police clearance certificate

  You and all accompanying family members aged 18 or older must provide police clearance from every country/territory where you have lived for 6+ months since age 18.

• Application fee payment receipt

  Upload proof of payment for the official application fee.
