Family Sponsorship Program Family Reunion

Required Documents & Information

• Valid passport with 6+ months validity

  Each applicant must submit a copy of the passport with at least 6 months validity remaining.

• Proof of relationship to sponsor

  Submit legal documents showing family relationship (e.g., marriage certificate, birth certificate, adoption records). Required for all sponsored persons.

• Sponsor’s commitment to financial support

  Sponsor must sign an undertaking agreeing to support the applicant for a period: 3 years for spouse/partner, 10 years for dependent child, up to 20 years for parents/grandparents.

• Proof of income (for parent/grandparent sponsorship only)

  Sponsor must provide notices of assessment showing income meets the Minimum Necessary Income (MNI) threshold for at least the past 3 tax years. Threshold varies based on family size.

• Medical examination by approved physician

  All applicants must undergo a medical exam with a panel physician approved by IRCC. Submit medical report as part of application.

• Police clearance certificate

  All adult applicants (18+) must provide police certificates from every country where they have lived for more than 6 months since age 18.

• Sponsor age: 18 years or older

  Sponsor must be at least 18 years old at the time of application.

• Sponsor status: Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or Status Indian

  Sponsor must provide proof of status in Canada (citizenship certificate, PR card, or Indian status card).

• Declaration of support from sponsor (Form IMM 1344 or equivalent)

  Sponsor must complete and sign the undertaking form (IMM 1344 or latest version) and submit with application.

• Application forms (IMM 0008, IMM 5406, or latest IRCC forms)

  All required IRCC application forms must be fully and accurately completed and signed.
